Mulled wine

Mulled wine is a traditional warm drink in Central European countries during winter time. It is very aromatic, warming, but also festive so people use to consume it during Christmas time. I use to prepare it for Christmas and New Year’s eve.


  • 1 bottle ofdry, red wine (750 ml)
  • 300 ml water
  • 80 grammars sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • juice of a small orange


Put all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 10′-15 ‘ but do not let the wine to boil.

Serve the wine –hot- in mugs and, if you wish, decorate with a slice of orange, a cinnamon stick and a star anise.
